Acid VS Base / Round 4

Did you know that spicy thing is acid?

Acid is a substance that have particular chemical properties. It’s include turning litmus red ( it’s a tool to measure acid and base ), neutral or neutralizing alkali and it dissolving some metals. Typically acid is known as a corrosive or sour-tasting liquid of this kind. Base is a chemical species that donates electrons, it accepts protons and releases hydroxide ions in aqueous solution. Base play certain characteristic properties that can be used to help identify them. The different between Acid and base is bases are the chemical opposite of acids. Base was any compound that when dissolved in water, gives a solution with a hydrogen ion activity lower than that of pure water. For acid, acids are defined as compound that donate a hydrogen ion to another compound ( it’s base ). Some example about acid, from I understand are lime or bitter thing.

How To Be Happy :) / Round 4

How to Be happy

This is the paragraph that I write about my feeling what make me HAPPY 🙂

People may have different kinds of happiness or not, but for me Yes! I have different kinds of happiness. When I’m out in nature alone with some fresh air and sunshine, it makes me happy and relaxes. I am happy when I’m with my family, eat together, talk together and laugh together. You could hear the sound of laughing and smile on their face. Music is also a part of my happiness. Soft music and relax music make me happy. Animals like dogs and grasshoppers make me happy. When they playing or hop around and eat something make me thinking of their freedom and I can see that they have a really happy feeling. One last thing is the most important for me. Cheer people up is the big happiness for me. I feel like I get to help people a lot with my cheer. I don’t know what are they thinking, but I just feel like I want to cheer them up.

Novel Study

Reading is the most important skill for us to have. We know a lot of thing from reading. We know the new thing, interesting things, mysterious, different factor anything else from reading. Reading making us happy or sad depending on what we read. For me, I like to read a novel book because it’s content a lot of emotional story and some methods. I decide to read that story is because I read the description of the movie and I look at the title of the book. Outsider is one of the books that I read in my literacy class. Our teacher let us choose what book we want to read. When I first see the Outsider, I feel like, I want to know what is the story about. So, I decide to choose that story as my novel for my learning.
The goal that my teacher wants to get from the students after they finish their novel, she wants us to understand and know what is the story want to talk about. The main and important target that we want are the summarize of the story, the conflict between character and character, the theme of the story and more… By learning this, our teacher divides us into a group and set a discussion after reading one or two chapters. The final product that we get is we create a Google slide and present to our class what we have learned from the novel and what is the story talks about.

Outdoor Leadership exploration / Round 4

Outdoor leadership was a really amazing exploration among all of the exploration. It was an exploration that we going out to camp in the forest and I have a lot of fun.

On 26th of March, we went to Mondulkiri. We leave school at 8am and we have a long ride from our school to Mondulkiri. We arrived Mondulkiri at the evening.

Wow! That was me when I step out from the bus. You don’t know that feeling, if you are not in the situation. It’s really beautiful out here.

The weather here was just perfect! But let see what is the weather for the morning

___ Wednesday 27th

Wow! The weather was just killing me! It’s very cold out here!!

I can say that it freeze my whole body, from my head to my toes.

Trekking for hard and long way make my legs sore. I was so excited with all this nature, but this is was my favorite part. Our tour guide help us to the place where the elephant live and they help us cooked our lunch. You never know what will happen, but I helped them cooked! Yeah, I can say that this is one of my big accomplished for the trip because I’ve help them a lot with cooking.

After the food done, we ate all together at a big and long table. We all have fun together during lunch time. The food was amazing! Everything they use is all from nature, No Technology. I was amaze with their work because they were so creative. They are one of the indigenous people that are really friendly. I never think that indigenous people act this kind and I’m really appreciated them on their work.

After we finish everything, we trek back with safe and sound!

New environment always difficult for me. During this trip, I’ve a struggle time with my sleeping. It was hard to sleep in tent because it’s a small place. In wilderness is full of animals. I can say that it’s a place for animal to lives. One of my struggle is when many insects enter my  tent without permission! Well, if they ask for the permission I would not let them in and they will just sneak in the same :(. During the night time, we turn on our light to keep it bright and that when the insects enter. We try to kept our tent close, but they can still sneak in without me knowing the reason.

 

Overall, this trip giving me a lot of experiences and lesson. What lesson that they trip giving me is when I need to take care of my tent, when I cooked food in the wild without technology, when to take care of myself during hot day and long trek and last but not least is when we enjoy together.

All of this can apply to my life. We never know what will happen on us in the future. What if we stuck in the forest and what will we do to save our life?

Python Programming Language / Round 4

Imagine, if the world is full of robot that use Python language and if you don’t know anything about python language, what will you do? What can you help to save the world that full of evil robot?. So from now on, you should learn python to get to know, what it is and how can it work.

This is the following round from the last round. We still continues learning Python from the last round. This round we have learn about Python Dictionary and Python List. Python dictionary is the collections of item that is changeable. You need to write it with curly bracket { }. It doesn’t allow duplicate the items of the code. For Python list, it is the collection of items that is ordered and changeable. It allow duplicate the items of the code. In order to make it work, you need to write it with the square bracket [ ]. Now, let’s me talk about how to access the items. There are many different types of list. There are Assessing Items, change items value, loop through a list, check if items exist, list length, add items – append, add items – insert and remove items. You already see that, there are many types of list, so I will pick Assessing items to explain you. To print it you need to put the words print(the name of your function) and put the number with inside the square bracket and it’s will print out the order of your code. This is so complicated right? It’s okay, I’ll try my best to explain. So in this explain, I’ll use the variable call thislist. In python, they count from zero, so if you write the words like, banana, apple, cherry and grape, and you want to print the number one you need to write the print like this →  print(thislist[1]). The outcome will be apple because python count from zero and the value of zero is banana.   

You can do a lot thing in Python dictionary. For examples, you can change the values of the item, you can loop through the dictionary, check if item exist or remove some of loop. For me this is a little bit complicated, but I’ll try to explain it as much as I can. Example, when you want to print an information about someone, you want to include her name, her age, her birthday and her favorite band, you can use this code to help you print all the information that you want to get. So first, you need to name your variable. Let say you name your variable as Importantpeople. Then, you need to put an equal sign after your variable and put a curly bracket. After that you enter one to get to the down part and you can write your information. For this, you need to add quotation mark for that words. After that you need to put the colon between the two words. Here, I’ll write down for you.

The summarize of what I’ve learn from Multimedia class is Python Dictionary is use for seeing the keys and values of the code. Python list is use for organize the list of your item and make it to an easy code to look and to read. For this round, I feel like I understand it better than last round :).

The difference between Percentage and Angle / Round 4

Math is one of the most important lesson to learn. You need math for your everyday living a lot. Examples, when you are going to the market, you need to buy some food and you need to calculate the price of the food that you buy. When you grew up and you want to take a job as a cashier, you need to know how to calculate too, even you use the machine to calculate the money.

Percentage is also a part of math. Let me tell you the introduction of percentage. Percentage is a unit that use to calculate thing easily. Usually, we always keep as hundreds. Every number that they want to use percentage, they always say 100%. Example, the population in Cambodia is 16.01 or 100%. In 2008, the population of Pursat province is about 442,973 and as percentage, it’s equal to 3.1% to the total population of Cambodia. That’s show, it is more easy to look at the percentage because percentage is short and easy, but for the actual number of the people is hard to remember. Down here is one of the example of Percentage.

Angle is “ the space (usually measured in degrees) between two intersecting lines or surfaces at or close to the point where they meet” – Dictionary. In my own understanding, I think angle is use for measuring the area of something and it is the two line that meet together in the different direction or shape and it’s create the different angle. We also learn about the name of the two angles that is add up to 90 degrees or 180 degrees. Supplementary angle is angle that the two angles that sum is 180 degrees. Complementary angle is the two angles that plus together and the sum is 90 degrees. Angle is use for Engineering, architecture, building thing or designing thing.

For this round, I have learned about the history of language, Khmer scholar people and last word of Master Tunchey. In the history of language research we need to research on where is Khmer language come from, ancient Khmer alphabet and who made khmer alphabet. Our teacher have divide us into difference team and do research on those topic. Me and my team do research on Last word of Master Tunchey and Khmer scholar people. The last word of Master Tunchey is “ If you eat proul fish, don’t throw​ the scales and if you eat pra fish don’t throw the gills and if you make fish head soup, don’t forget to put Mju sondan”.

This round we have been learned about Khmer grammar. Khmer grammar is almost the same as English grammar. We have pronoun, noun, adjective, verb and more just like English grammar.

Robotic / Round 3

Robot means the machine that we made up and program to make it run. When we talk about coding, I really don’t like it. You know the feeling when you don’t know how to do cod and you end up with joining Robotic exploration.

In the past seven weeks, we have been learn about what is robot and how we build it. We were trying hard to build our robot and learn how to code. Oh no! Code! We divide the students into two groups and each group have five members. In each group, they divide them self into two groups. One is work on project and one is work on the robot.

Oops, I forgot to tell you this. In each year, the First Lego League have a robot competition ( If you want to know more, click on the link and read more 🙂 ) This year was about “Into Orbit”. Space is one of the most interesting subject to learn. In this competition goal are we complete the mission and find one problem in space. The problem doesn’t need to be related to the mission. The mission is the mission for our robot to complete. For example, the first mission is they want you to push the satellite to the sky and you need to program your robot and push it up. On mid-March, which means March 12, we will be leaving to Singapore for robot competition.

The goal of our exploration is not to win the competition, but to show our hard working and our teamwork. The core value of our team is to respect, communicate, solution before complain and help each other. We want to enjoy together and not get angry because of something.

Decimal / Round 3

“ A decimal is a fraction that is written in the form of a dot followed by one or more numbers which represent tenths, hundredths, and so on: for example .5, .51, .517. …simple math concepts, such as decimals and fractions”. Decimal is not a hard lesson to learn. I like decimal because the multiple and division decimal is not so hard as the fraction. Do y’all know who create Decimal? If no, you will get to know it today because I will tell you now.

John Napier was the one who creates decimal. He was a Scottish landowner known as a mathematician, physicist, and astronomer. Decimal fractions were first developed and used by the Chinese at the end of the 4th century BC, and then spread to the Middle East and from there to Europe. He was born in 1550 and died on April 4, 1617.

“I Am From” / Round 3

Do you ever notice or wonder about the history of your own name? Let me share the story about my name.

My name means mercy or pity in my language which is Khmer. In Thai, my name means please. Well, it’s mean similar meaning between my language and thai. In my school many people trying to match me with my name like “ Oh, her name mean pity or mercy. Does she feel pity to other or not?” or “ Ohh, why do your parents put this name for you? It’s nothing relate with you. You are lucky enough. Not really pity for you”. They can say this, but in lavian my name mean crown. I want to tell all my friend that I have power because my name mean crown. You will regret in someday by making fun with my name. I don’t know why I’m saying this.

This name is come from “ Prom Vihear Thor”. This is a Khmer advise that teaching student about the good things and to have a feeling in our mind that we need to give love, pity and happiness to other. There are four Prom Vihear Thor which are, Meta, Kakrona, Mutita and Opikha. As I said the same thing, Kakrona mean mercy and pity. Have pity feeling in your head a feeling that god have give you.

For me, I don’t want to have the same name with others because I feel like…. people will compare me with that people who share the same name with me. I don’t like being compare. I never believe myself that I’m a better person, so that’s the reason I don’t like being compare. My name exist when I was born. My mom is the one who decide to put this name for me. Like I said at the first time, it’s mean mercy or pity in Khmer. During my birth was the struggling day of my mother. Also, I’m the youngest in my family and my dad pity me for being the last. I don’t understand why. The last reason is I wasn’t born in the hospital or in my house or my relative house. I was born in a place where you never expect. I don’t want to tell you where is it.

“Does you feel pity for others?” This is the question that my friend ask me. I wonder why those people need to know and compare the name with the people. For sure! My name match with my attitude because I feel pity for some animal and some other people like begger or homeless people. Give love and happiness to homeless people is like helping a million people. I would also give the food to some stray animals and help some small animals like ant, grasshopper….. In class, I always help them out with their homework or their work in class. Everyday I’m trying to act myself to match with my name. It’s so difficult when you have the name that mean polite or pity. You sometimes get bullied by other people because of your name.

“Why your parents decide to put this name for you? You should have a different name than this name, Kakrona” My friend joking. I don’t mind them because it’s real. I was born in a place that you’ll never believe. I don’t want to tell what it is. If I have a chance, I want to change a name that is cooler than this, but it doesn’t have any meaning. Well, I like my name now. It’s not bad, but I don’t want people to dig into the history of my name like now, I’m writing and explain about my name. In conclusion, I like my name. I don’t want to change my name and I always want to have the name that my parents give it for me.

I am from a black blanket, from a red hammock and my blue two seats bicycle . I am from the up wooden and down brick house that smell dew drops water every morning. I am from the crown of thorns. The mango tree, the short coconut tree whose long gone lims I remember as if they were my own.

I’m from loving and phumben time, from my parents and my older sisters. I am from a joke team and small party and from family backyard picnic.

I’m from paradise and advise of life and birthday song made up by me which is misheard lyrics, buffalo eat a dog.

I’m from older respecter. I’m from a small room and pure khmer blood, greatest people and a mixture of healthy vegetable.

From a struggling man who work hard for his children and his family. Inside my photos album were recorded all memories of my family. A family photo without my first sister made me remembering a time when I hike to a mountain with my greatest people. Flashback smile on those photos make me watering my eyes, I smile again with hope and happy.
