S-I-M-P-L-E Machine / Round 5

Everyday, people use modern machine to help improve their work or make their work easier. Mostly, they define machine as the tool that use electricity and modern tool, but tools like hammer or axes are also call machine, but it’s just the different type of machine that you use the force from yourself more than it can do for you. For this round, I’ve not been at the class much, but I kind of understand and know what is my class content. In the past seven weeks, we have learn about Simple Machine! What’s a simple machine? Simple machine is any basic mechanical device for applying a force  which include wedge, plane and lever. For this topic, I’ve learn and understand the content from a website call ck12.org, but I also learn and do some research from the other website too.

To understand clearly about the content, my teacher have divide us into team and let us do some small project. In this project, we are making a simple machine and use whatever material that we have in our school. My team have three members and we decide to make pulley! Pulleys are simple machine that lifting some heavy stuff to make human easier.

These are the photos of Pulley that I have made with my teammates.

Carbon / Round 3

Carbon is a virtually important molecule in the carbon cycle. Proteins, nucleic acids, lipids, carbohydrates and other molecules essential to life contain carbon. Let me explain some of the words. Nucleic acids are NA. DNA stands for Deoxyribonucleic acid. Deoxyribonucleic acid is a molecule composed of two chains that coil around each other to form a double helix carrying the genetic instructions used in the growth, development, functioning, and reproduction of all known living organisms and many viruses. Lipids are fat. Carbohydrates are the food that you eat for your power and you energetic. Carbon is present in the atmosphere as the gas carbon dioxide ( CO2 ), which makes up approximately 0.04% of the atmosphere. If it also presents in the ocean & fresh water as dissolved carbon dioxide. Carbons are also present in rocks such as limestone ( Caco2 ).

The carbon cycle is the global moment of carbon between the abiotic environment including the atmosphere and ocean. The process that removes carbon dioxide from the air is photosynthesis. The processes that add carbon dioxide to the air are combustion and respiration. In the respiration are animal, plant and decomposing.

If carbon dioxide extinct we might have no oxygen. There will be no plant and living organism.

Oops, I forgot to tell you guy that we also do some experiment. It’s call Black Snake experiment.  Down here is the step how to do that experiment.

The Formula of Black Snake

  • 20 gram of sugar
  • One bowl of sand
  • 5 gram of baking soda
  • Some alcohol
  • A beaker
  • A lighter or match
  1. Pour the sand into the bowl
  2. Soak the sand with alcohol
  3. Keep it for a moment and mixed the sugar with baking soda
  4. Pour all the baking soda and sugar into the bowl of sand into a shape of a mountain
  5. Light the bowl up with the match and you can see the result

How is this work?

Alcohol catch the fire and it’s burning

Baking soda and sugar contain carbon, so when the fire burn it’s come up with carbon ash
