Khmer Poem / Round 1

 

In Khmer class our teacher let us making Khmer poem in different types of poem. I choose four words poem which have four sentences per part and four words per sentence. It’s not really hard, but I just need to arrange the part that I made. We have three weeks in total to create our poem and arrange it to make it perfect.

My Poem is basically about a girl that never listen to her mother. She rude to her mother and discriminate her mother even though her mother loves her with all her heart and always give something that she needs. Her mother is really old, but she trying to find money for her children to have a good future. Finally, her mother died because her daughter hurt her. If you want to know more please read my poem.

New words Packet / Round 1

English Literacy class is one of my favorite class. I like to learn new words and take note in my book. Learning new words is a bit complicated because you have to define the definition of the word and understand it.

In the last few weeks, my teacher give us one packet a week. We only have four packet which mean four Units. All the words is came from Latin and Greek words. It have the Root word, meaning and Origin. We want to know and learn where the words come from and wants to explore new words. First one is Just Add Water. All the words is about water. The Root words of this Unit is Hydr meaning of water and came from Greek, Aqua/aqu meaning of water and came from Latin and Mar/mer meaning of sea, came from Latin. One of my favorite word is Aquarium. This words mean the glass or bowl that people put the fish to live in there. I never visit the aquarium one time, but I wish too. The second Unit is about All Eyes And Ears. This unit is about sound, hearing and seeing. The Root words are Vis/vid also known as see, look and came from Latin. Aud meaning hear and came from Latin. Last one is Phon, mean sound and came from Greek. Visionary is a great word. Guess what this word mean? Think about it in one minute before continue read. Hmm, can you find it or kind of get what it mean? Well, let me give you an example about Visionary. Steve Jobs’s futuristic thinking and creativity made him the most well-known Visionary of our time. Do you get some clue about Visionary ? Now let me tell you the definition of it. Visionary is a person with original ideas about what the future will or could be like. Do your guess match with my definition ? Let move on to Unit three. Unit three is call I Just Gotta Know! The root word are mem, ology and sci. Mem mean mindful, recall and it’s came from Latin. Ology mean to study and it’s came from Greek. Sci mean to know and came from Latin. Etymology is one of my new words in unit three. It’s mean the study of the origin of words and the way in which their meanings have changed throughout history. This words is what we are learn rightnow, to study of Greek and Latin roots. The last unit is call Express Yourself! The root words are Dict, Scrib/script and Graph/gram. Dict mean say or declare and came from Latin. Scrib/Script mean write and it’s came from Latin. Last one mean write, draw, describe or record. It’s came from Greek. Calligraphy is sound very cool. Yes! It’s cool because it’s mean the art of making beautiful handwriting. I know some of Calligraphy. When we finish the unit once a week, we will have a little quiz before our teacher hand our new unit. The quiz is about the word that we have learn in the packet and the teacher just wants us to review the words. My best points for the test is 90%.

I always learn new word during I research something. I found a word during making the cinquain poem. The word is Delightful. It’s mean charming and loving. The word sound really fresh and cool. I will try to learn more vocabulary.

Software Program / Round 1

In our class, teacher wants us to know some software program and know how to use it. We learn Indesign, Lightroom CC 2018 and Photoshop. In indesign we use it for design the books, the magazine, the newspaper and other things. In Lightroom CC 2018 we use it to edit our pictures to look more better. If our pictures is too dark we can edit it to lighter or abit light. In Lightroom CC 2018 is really useful and if you download it and try to use it, it really good and give it a try now! Last but not least is Photoshop. Photoshop is really different from Lightroom CC 2018. We can at some more picture in our picture. For example, I download the png of Angkor Wat. I add some Apsara dance near the temple. I add some more flower near the temple and I can add other thing if I want. If you are Advance you will learn more from Photoshop. For our homework teacher give use to make the poster in the Indesign, edit the photo in Lightroom CC 2018 and add some picture that we edit in the Photoshop. I made about Suicide forest in Japan. I add some information and I make a really cool poster ( for me ). It’s include some information and some pictures about suicide forest. I edit the picture of the hanging tree in Lightroom CC 2018 and add in my poster. I also cut some of my picture in Photoshop and add to my poster. Researching Skill

In the past few week, I have been learn about the researching skill. My teacher have tough different styles of research some information. Why do we do the research ? Well, this is the question that my teacher put for me to answer. Actually we doing the research to know what we don’t know, to research what we don’t understand, to explore something new, the task and to entertain yourself. We learn three different styles of research and learn.

The first one is To know exactly about our research we need to know the beginning our our research, our topic, the important question, some WH questions and know some key words. If we ask some good questions and the important question, we would get very very good information and useful. For WH questions we have, who, what, when, where, why, whom and how.

Then KWL chart also known as Know, What, Learn. In this style we create the chart and divide with three column fill with Know, What and Learn. Know is what we already know about our topic. What is what we want to know about our topic. Learn is after we research, what do we learn from research. For example I research about Cambodia. What I already know is that Cambodia is located in Southeast Asia. Angkor Wat is located in Cambodia. For what I want to know the population in Cambodia and any questions that I want to know from Cambodia. I know that Cambodia have 24 province and one city. Cambodia is one of the oldest country in the world.

Last but not least, Mind Map. It’s the map that shows us the connection of our topic. For example when I research about Cambodia, I draw out a line and I put Southeast Asia. I draw out one more line and put country. You will learn more about the picture below.

When we research, we will have to much sources for us to choose. For the sources we have two differents sources, Primary Sources and Secondary Source. Primary Sources is something that is recorded directly or firsthand about an event, object, person or work of art. For Example we have Interview, Newspaper articles, Speeches, Video Recording and work of arts. These are all the Primary Sources. Secondary Sources is they created after or they already know from book and they rewrite it. For Example Textbooks, Book/ Movie reviews and Biography.

How do we research ? Well we have two kinds of research. Myth : “ Research is about finding the answer you want “. Reality : “ Research is about letting what you find guide you an answer you may or may not expect “.

Searching Challenge is really hard for us. When it is to much result we can’t decide which one we would choose or which one is the right one. If we put the quotation mark it will give the answer that we expect and exact word that you looking for. For example, “ Cambodia “. Give it a try!. I have some useful tip for you to research what you want or expect. It’s call Boolean Word. It’s the use of And, Or and Not.

  • “ And “ is all the word(s)
  • “ Or “ is any of the word(s)
  • “ Not “ is none of the word(s)

Example, I research about Angkor. I would type “ Angkor not beer “. Because if you  put angkor sometimes it will give you the beer picture instead of temple.

Minus Sign is we you the sign minus to not include the word that we don’t want. Example is The Great Wall-movie.

I have a question for you. What is Credible Sources ? Think for five second and do you get it ? No! Well, it’s the source that real or something that believable. The sources that is real or Credible Sources is you look at the the end of the websites. The credible sources are  :

  • .gov
  • .edu
  • .org
  • .uk
  • Non Fiction

Website that end with something above, it’s really helpful and real. Some website that is not credible are :

  • Wikipedia
  • Blog / Personal website
  • Fiction books
  • Biased Magazin

Fraction / Round 1

In our school, we divided our students into four different class and different time. I learn in 11:00 o’clock to 12:00 o’clock. In my math textbook I have learn Whole number, More Calculations with whole numbers, Fraction, Multiply and Divide fractions, Perimeter/Area and Surface area and Ratio. We learn from Primary Mathematics textbook that come from Singapore. I like word problem the most. In my class teacher always give us the word problems. I always can solve it with my friend. Sometimes I like to do Math problem by myself, so that I can easily solve it. Like the problems one below. I solve it with my classmates. I usually do the Math problems whenever I have free time.

No Single-Use-Plastic at Liger

Exploration is a seven weeks project that created by Liger. Our teacher have divided the students in to team and put them in different exploration. I am in “ Say No To Plastic “ exploration. In this exploration we are trying to stop the Single-Use-Plastic. The Single-Use-Plastic is the plastic that people use only one time and throw away such as Styrofoam, Plastic Bags, Straws, Coffee Stirrers, Plastic Cups, Plastic Spoon/Fork, Water Bottle and Food Packaging. We been research about the Con and Pros about the Single-Use-Plastic. The problem of using Plastic are it take long time to degrade, Toxic chemical is in plastic, can lead to cancer, birth defect and more, it spoils our groundwater, effect to our environment like air pollution, threaten marine life like they mistake for the food or give it to their baby and poison our food chain. Some of you might not get what poison our food chain is, so let me give an example of Poison Our Food Chain.Because of the animals eating the plastic they are going to die. For example the fish has been eaten a piece of plastic. One or two day later they are die or people fish them. In the restaurant or at home people will cook fish and also because of the plastic have chemical so it will spread to every system inside the fish body and when people eat the fish they will get sick. The advantages of using plastic are it’s cheap and it’s very easy to carry around, it’s lighter than the paper bag, it’s waterproof than the paper bag and it’s stronger. The disadvantages of using plastic are it’s dangerous to wildlife and marine life, it’s pollute the environment and it’s take longer to degrade. In first week we did some research about plastic. Second week we trying to find the some staff to replace plastic. Third week we start to discuss with our team what we have learn so far in two weeks. Fourth week we get some item for replace the plastic. Fifth week we start to giving out the items that we have find to replace plastic to our school. Sixth week we start to collect the data and survey the people that use our new items. In last weeks, which is week seven we prepare for our exploration. Right now we have banned some plastic straws in our school. Our big goal is to stop having plastic straws, styrofoam, plastic bag and plastic cups coming in to our school. We have metal straws instead of plastic straws, Styrofoam that made from corn starch or lunch box instead of styrofoam made from plastic, folding bag instead of plastic bag and use the reusable cup instead of plastic cups. Research About Atom / Round 1

STEM stand for Science, Technology, Engineer and Math. For me Science and Technology is the hardest subjects in my life. My teacher always have something know for us to learn and it really interesting.In first round week five, I learn about Physical Science. In our class our teacher divided into four teams to present and teach each other about our topic. There are four topics, which are  Proton, Neutron and Electron / Atomic, Force and Quark / Ion and Isotope / Atomic Mass and Atomic Number. I am in Ion and Isotope team. In my team, I have four members. I am research about Ion and my other member research about Isotope. I have been doing the research of Ion for one day and a half. Now let me explain Ion and Isotope that I get and learn from my research. Ion is an atom with a net charge that loss or gain of one or more electrons. It can create charge because the Proton and Electron are not balancing. Ion form when atom gain or lose electrons. It form is also related to Ionization energy and the position on the periodic table. Ionization energy is the amount of the energy that remove the electrons from atom. There are two types of Ionization energy, low and high. Low Ionization energy means that it easy to loss the electrons. High Ionization energy means that it easy to gain the electrons. There are two types of Ion. Positive Ion we call Cation. It happened when atom lose the electrons.Negative Ion we call Onion. It happened when atom gain the electron. We also can find Ion in Humans Body. It’s play the important role in Humans Body. There are some Ion keys that participate in Humans Body. There are Calcium, Potassium, Sodium, Chloride and Copper. For Sodium is the positive Ion that found in the fluid outside the cell. Potassium is the positive Ion inside the cell. Isotopes are atoms that have the same number of protons and electrons but different number of neutrons. The different number of Isotope have different mass number. If an atom were to gain or lose Neutrons it becomes an Isotope. The atom that gain Neutrons call Deuterium.

Let’s move on to Proton, Neutron and Electron. From I understand from my teammates Neutron have zero charge, Electron have negative charge and Proton have plus charge. The positive charge stay in Nucleus. Neutrons help combine the atom in oxygen. Proton and Neutron almost have the same size. Proton and Electron always have the same amount. Neuton helps repelling Proton apart. Proton and Neutron always stick with each other. Now I will explain about Quark, Atomic and Force. There are four types of Atomic force Strong Force, Electromagnetic Force, Weak Force and Gravitational Force. I only know what Electromagnetic Force mean. The other three I’m not sure. So Electromagnetic Force mean it’s how it repel when negative plus positive. For Example : When you have two magnet and you put positive and positive or negative and negative together it will stick with each other, but if you put positive and negative or negative and positive together it will strongly push each other out and it can’t stick with each other. There are six types of Quarks, Up quarks, Down quarks, Strange quarks, Charm quarks, Top quarks and Bottom quarks. When You have Down quarks, Up quark and Down quark you will get Neutron. Scientist keep Quark as the smallest thing in universe. Mostly the color of Quark is light color like Green, Blue, Red and etc. It’s uncountable.

The last one is Atomic Number and Atomic Mass. Atomic Number is the number in the corner of the formula. If you want to see the neutrons of Atomic you just need to round atomic mass and subtract with atomic number and you will see. That’s all I get to know from my friend and from what I research.
